b_150_100_16777215_0___images_stories_Features2011_twec_weldskill_gun_hi.jpg Responding to the needs of non-industrial fabrication and small job shop MIG gun users, Thermadyne Industries’ Tweco brand is expanding its WeldSkill product line to include a series of durable guns with a patent-pending design that provides light-duty welders with attractive value pricing.

The new products include 125-amp, 140-amp, 180-amp and 220-amp guns that are perfect for small job shops, garage, hobby/DIY, artistic metalworking, and maintenance and repair applications.

These new MIG guns were designed to specifically accommodate the welding practices of these users. The ergonomic handle has a slight curvature to maneuver easily in different welding positions, which is required in small job shops or during light welding. There are no brass blocks inside the handle, as found in traditional gun designs, so they are light weight, cooler for operator comfort, and easier to control for various applications and welding positions.

The guns feature a jacketed, durable brass tube to protect the patented through-the-tube Cablehozâ„¢, and the steel spring strain relief at the base of the guns adds durability. Long-life triggers on the guns have been tested to provide more that 1.2 million cycles without failure.

“We recognize that job shops are looking for economical ways to stretch their operating costs and that other welders are reluctant to invest in expensive equipment,” said Indy Datta, Tweco Product Line Management.  “These users, however, want products that will last and perform well. Our new Tweco WeldSkill guns will be attractive to these markets because they will be lower in price than anything comparable on the market. They will drive additional traffic to our distributors and expand their customer base. ”

The new guns are now available in Canada.
