CHICAGO and PLANO, Texas – Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, has announced that Boeing, the world's leading aerospace company, has signed a new 10-year agreement to extend the use of Siemens PLM Software technology at both Boeing Commercial Airplanes and Defense Space and Security.

The CTMA announced late last week that the Province of Ontario is providing $900,000 in funding from Communities in Transition to reinstate the CTMA’s successful advanced software training program that mitigated training costs for the Ontario machine, tool, die and mould sector. Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM software for programming CNC machine tools and a Cimatron company, recently announced that it has granted Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) a network license of 25 seats of GibbsCAM software and post processor library, which, when combined with first year maintenance, which was also granted, is valued at almost $510,000.  The new buzz words in computing at the moment seem to be multi-core and parallel processing. Increasing the clock speed of the processor has been replaced by increasing the number of processor cores in your computer. But what advantage does increasing the number of cores in a processor give you and does the reality actually live up to the hype?

Hurco has announced the release of WinMax8, the most substantial upgrade to its WinMax control software since it was introduced in 2006. WinMax8 includes advancements to existing features that make them more robust and a number of new features that the company believes will prove revolutionary to the industry, which resulted in four patent awards for Hurco, according to Greg Volovic, Executive Vice President of Technology and Operations for Hurco. Bystronic introduces the latest release of the Bysoft 6 software, Version 6.8, available for all users of Bystronic lasers, waterjets, and press brakes.  Siemens software passes manufacturing planning information from teamcenter PLM to motion control information system (MCIS) for machining operations. |
