GM to invest $100 million on Ingersoll assembly plant

General Motors Co. is planning to invest close to $100 million to increase capacity at its CAMI Automotive assembly plant in Ingersoll, ON, according to media reports.
The investment is aimed at increasing production of the Chevrolet
Equinox and GMC Terrain crossover utility vehicles. CAMI now has the
capacity to make approximately 250,000 vehicles a year. Both the
Equinox and Terrain vehicles are in hot demand from consumers currently.
The retooling of the plant is expected to cost about $90 million, media reports indicated. The CAMI assembly plant began as a joint venture between GM and Suzuki Motor Co. Ltd. in 1989.
