 The MDC-500 mill drill center from Haas Automation is a state-of-the-art machining center that provides high-speed drilling and tapping, as well as full milling capabilities, in an affordable package designed to pump up a shop’s parts volume.
Speed and flexibility were the key design criteria for the MDC-500. It features dual fixture stations that allow the operator to load and unload parts on one fixture while the machine mills, drills and taps parts on the other. Once machining is complete, a servo-powered, gear-drive indexer swaps the fixture stations in 4.7 seconds. The MDC-500 provides a generous work cube of 20 in. x 14 in. x 20 in. (XYZ) and features a 7,500-rpm (10,000 and 15,000 rpm optional) 40-taper spindle.
