Cutoff machine employs unique process PDF Print E-mail
Hautau Tube Cutoff Systems has developed a unique chipless rotary cutoff process where cam rollers act as chamfer tools, producing a finished edge on both ends of the tubing.
This cutoff machine is based on the popular RC 60 rotary machine and processes mill-length 40 ft. tubes with a wall thickness up to 0.125 in. into drive shafts from 18 in. to 60 in. in length. Rotary cutoff wheels are used instead of carbide tooling. The overhead bridge allows for 100% length inspection after cutoff. Primary lengths are placed on an angled runout table and roll down to a pair of bumpers that elevate the piece to a programmable position. Each tube is inspected and moved onto the next stage. Maximum utilization of the mill length tube is achieved by cutting secondary lengths from the remnant, which can then be processed in a future run. For example a 54 in. remnant can be cut into two 26 in. pieces for the next run. Any remnant over 18 in. can be cut for future batching.
