Chrysler considers Brampton plant for Alfa Romeo PDF Print E-mail
Chrysler is looking at its Brampton, ON assembly plant to build the next Alfa Romeo sports car if the auto maker decides to move ahead with the program, according to media reports. At a press conference at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, MI this week, Sergio Marchionne, chief executive officer of Chrysler and its Italian partner Fiat SpA, revealed that he has asked managers of the Alfa Romeo program to redevelop its business case for the car.

“The answer is if you build it, it’s likely it will be there (Brampton), if we build it at all,” Marchionne told the press conference. Currently, the Brampton plant builds the Chrysler 300 sedan, Dodge Charger, and Challenger sports cars.

While Marchionne wouldn’t reveal any specific investment plans for the Brampton facility, he said that Chrysler would upgrade the plant’s paint operations.

“We’re not talkng about specific investments but I think the paint shop in Brampton will need some intervention,” he said.
