System employs unique clamping method PDF Print E-mail
The TANG-GRIP from ISCAR is a new, single-ended insert for parting, with a revolutionary clamping method.
It offers very rigid clamping in a tangentially oriented  pocket and increases pocket life by three times more than any other SELF-GRIP mechanism. TANG-GRIP enables machining at high feed rates and provides excellent straightness and surface finish. It also provides a solution to the problem of inserts being pulled out during retraction. TANG-GRIP employs a solid stopper, unlike the friction retaining force in the current systems. In the SELF-GRIP system the machining forces are exerted on a very short stopper, while in the TANG-GRIP system, machining forces are supported by a long and rigid rear wall. Pocket wear, which occurs during machining and insert indexing in the SELF-GRIP system, causes a reduction in the clamping force. This does not happen with the new TANG-GRIP system. The TANG-GRIP system provides very accurate grooving repeatability.
