Insert ideal for cast iron PDF Print E-mail
Excellent wear-resistance, anti-chipping characteristics and high-hardness combine to make Sumitomo’s BN700 PcBN insert ideal for cast iron and powdered metal machining.
The BN700 consists of extremely high CBN content, resulting in a very hard edge and extreme wear-resistance. In an application example using an induction-hardened P/M gear, the BN700’s tool life was 1.5 times longer than that of the competitor’s. For PcBN and PCD, Sumitomo is vertically integrated (from raw to finished product). BN700 geometries are multi-cornered with numbered edges for ease in indexing. All inserts are manufactured with precision-ground tolerances. Edge preparation choices include wiper, honed and no edge prep.
