Insert employs unique clamping method PDF Print E-mail
ISCAR has introduced TANG-GRIP a new, single-ended insert for parting, with a revolutionary clamping method.

TANG-GRIP features very rigid clamping in a tangentially oriented  pocket which increases pocket life by three times more than any other SELF-GRIP mechanism. It  enables machining at high feed rates and provides excellent straightness and surface finish. The TANG-GRIP system provides a solution to the problem of inserts being pulled out during retraction. It features  a solid stopper, unlike the friction retaining force in the current systems. This is especially important on machines with a bar feeder or sub-spindles. In the SELF-GRIP system the machining forces are exerted on a very short stopper, while in the TANG-GRIP system, machining forces are supported by a long and rigid rear wall.
