Drills provide optimum performance PDF Print E-mail
Precision Dormer’s new CDX-Inox drills offer exceptional levels of performance and tool life when drilling in stainless steels and exotic alloys to depths of 3xD (R567) and 5xD (R563).

As such, they will be of particular interest to the aerospace, automotive, die and mould, orthopaedics or petrochemical sectors, as well as anyone involved in the manufacture of piece parts within the food industry. To combat the work hardening commonplace when machining stainless steels, the CDX-Inox drills have a thin margin which reduces contact with the hole surface. This minimises friction between the drill cylindrical land and the hole walls, decreasing work hardening and temperatures generated. Due to the high toughness of stainless steel, problems associated with chip breaking and evacuation are also commonplace. The positive geometry and coolant feed holes of both CDX-Inox drills ensure excellent chip management, allowing the tools to perform at high feed rates while also minimizing machine downtime.
