System virtually eliminates measurement errors PDF Print E-mail
Renishaw has created a new system of technologies that brings ultra-high-speed scanning to CMMs.
The system integrates Renscan5, an advanced five-axis machine control algorithm, REVO, an ultra-high-speed infinite-positioning measuring head with a first-ever laser-corrected probe, and a second generation UCC2 universal CMM controller. The Renscan5 enabling technology allows the development of a range of breakthrough five-axis scanning products that measure at speeds up to 500 mm/sec (vs. standard practice of 10-20 mm/sec.), while virtually eliminating the measurement errors normally associated with existing three-axis scanning systems. The five-axis system achieves this by allowing the smaller and lighter REVO measuring head to perform most of the motion during inspection routines, minimizing the dynamic errors caused by the mass of the moving CMM structure.
