Milltap's IMTS debut

September, 03 2012
DMG / Mori Seiki USA will exhibit a full range of Mori Seiki and DMG machines in booth S‐8900. The space will be organized into seven technology centers including: Horizontal Turning, Horizontal Machining, Five‐Axis Machining Centers, ECOLINE machines, Advanced Technologies (ULTRASONIC & LASERTEC), Turn Mill machines and MILLTAP solutions.

Newly developed models will be shown for the first time, including the Mori Seiki NLX4000AY/750 CNC lathe, DMU 80 eVo FD CNC universal milling machine and MILLTAP 700 machining center. The new MILLTAP 700 milling-drilling center will be demonstrated to IMTS visitors for the first time. As well as the high-speed milling of aluminum and the heavy machining of steel, Mori Seiki will also be demonstrating 4-axis machining with a rotary table. The capacity of the machine is up to 60% higher than conventional models thanks to the 25 kW high-performance spindle. At the same time, the highly accurate rotary table is compact so optimum use can be made of the work area of the MILLTAP 700 even when machining on 4 axes. As a result, the machining spectrum of the machine includes complex components as well as turbine components.

The NLX4000AY/750, the latest CNC lathe in the NLX series, allows for extremely stable turning of large workpieces. This is made possible by the highly rigid construction as well as the high-torque spindle (max. 100 Nm). As a result, processing can be carried out into the heavy machining range, which is otherwise the domain of machining centers.
